Mandy is a highly qualified training facilitator and has 15 Years’ experience in University, Tafe, community and private organisations. Mandy is accredited to deliver Mental Health First Aid training and can be contracted to facilitate these courses across Queensland.

Two-day Standard Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) Course

Learn about the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in adults, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation. Mental health issues covered include:

  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
  • Panic attacks
  • Traumatic events
  • Severe effects of drug and alcohol use
  • Severe psychotic states
  • Aggressive behaviours

This course consists of 12-hours of face-to-face training and course participants will receive a handbook and an online Certificate of Completion.

Conversations about Suicide (Half Day)

What you will learn:

  • How to identify warning signs for suicide.
  • How to confidently support a person in crisis.
  • How to have a conversation with someone experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
  • How to provide appropriate referral pathways.

At the completion of the course you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to safely have a conversation with a suicidal person.

This course consists of 4-hours of face-to-face training and course participants will receive a handbook and an online Certificate of Completion.

Conversations About Gambling (Half Day)

The 4-hour Mental Health First Aid Conversations about Gambling course is for any interested adult.

You will learn how to identify, approach and support someone experiencing gambling harm using a practical, evidence-based action plan.

This course consists of 4-hours of face-to-face training and course participants will receive a handbook and an online Certificate of Completion.

Mental Health First Aid Refresher Course (Half Day)

This 4-hour course gives participants an opportunity to refresh the knowledge and skills learnt during the 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid Course.

For people who are Accredited MHFAiders, the refresher course offers an opportunity to extend your accreditation for a further 3 years.

Participants must provide evidence of having undertaken the Standard MHFA course on or after July 1, 2015.

Courses require a minimum of 6 and maximum of 18 participants.
